One Piece Live Action Sets Sail

The Straw Hats are ready to set sail.

An update to Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece offered a huge teaser as the main cast for the show was made official. One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda provided fans with the exciting news,

“We decided on this cast after numerous discussions involving people around the world! These are the people who will be our Straw Hat Pirates! It’ll take a bit more time to get this show done, but we’ll continue to do our best to deliver a show that we’re confident will be enjoyed by everyone around the world.”

The cast includes Iñaki Godoy as Luffy D. Monkey, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Taz Skylar as Sanji and Jacob Romero as Usopp.

News of the cast and plans to film are indications the project is moving along as scheduled. This is the first major announcement since the idea emerged in 2017. The news also comes as the anime series is about to air the 1000th episode.

Although there is no information about Chopper, fans can only hope he will appear the at some point in the live-action series.
